A seasoned leader at the intersection of trust & safety and digital advertising, AJ Brown serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Brand Safety Institute. As COO, AJ orchestrates BSI's operations across its editorial, educational, and partnership endeavors, and aims to leverage his expertise to help marketers more effectively navigate brand safety & suitability on platforms.
Prior to joining BSI, AJ was Head of Brand Safety and Ad Quality at Twitter, charged with delivering a positive advertising experience on the platform by serving high-quality ads in brand-safe environments. AJ joined Twitter in 2016, and led or played a key part in company milestones including the development and enforcement of civic integrity policies, enhancements in transparency, and most notably establishing Twitter’s Brand Safety practice.
Brown was among the founding platform representatives in the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), with which he developed and executed a multipronged Acceleration Agenda for Twitter following the company's purchase by Elon Musk, including delivering enhanced brand safety controls and third-party reporting for advertisers. His work to promote responsible monetization at Twitter aligns perfectly with BSI’s mission to continuously drive a healthy and sustainable advertising ecosystem.
