Mary Ellen is the Senior Vice President, Global Brand Marketing & Sponsorships, leading brand partnerships, experiences, and digital products, as well as American Express’ internal creative center of excellence, OnBrand. In her current role, she is focused on enhancing the value of Membership through access, experiences, and benefits for Card Members; in 2023, she led the Company’s first new sports sponsorship in a decade: a multiyear partnership with F1 in the Americas. Additionally, through her leadership of OnBrand, she has transformed and grown American Express' internal creative team, expanding capabilities across digital, email, print, video, and social.

Mary Ellen has a proven track record leading global organizations across marketing, product management, product development and partnership management, as well as large organizational transformations. During her 24-year tenure at American Express, she has held leadership positions across Global Commercial Payments, Enterprise Growth, Prepaid & Alternative Payments and Global Merchant Services.

Highlights from her various roles at American Express include: driving welcomed acceptance globally through merchant marketing, scaling the Amex Offers program, establishing a Merchant Membership model, leading relationships with strategic partners like Verizon and AT&T; launching new products globally, including Platinum in Australia and Italy; and scaling the Gift Card business online and in retail across partners like CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart.

Mary Ellen graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Bachelor of Science in Communication. She lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters and her mini goldendoodle.
