René Spellman is a media and talent agency executive with 14 years of experience advising C-suite executives, entertainers, and elected officials. Spellman comes to Obsidianworks having most recently served as an advisor to Michael B. Jordan's philanthropic endeavors. Recently, Spellman was deputy campaign manager to Bernie 2020. Previously, she was an executive at talent agency CAA, vice president at media agency MWW PR, and vice president at management consultancy Mtheory LLC. Earlier in her career, she received political appointments to the Obama Administration.
Believing that culture ignites change, Spellman is passionate about community-based organizing. She is a veteran of five U.S. presidential cycles, and served as a campaign manager at every level of elections. She currently serves as a nonprofit board member for Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society Fellowship, Norman Lear's People for the American Way, and Kendrick Sampson's BLD PWR. Spellman was also a founding member of I am a Voter and helped create #ChangeHollywood.
Spellman is an alum of Stanford University, where she was member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She received fellowships from the Truman National Security Project and Young People For (YP4).
