A rare combination of change agent and entrepreneur who understands both the client and brand side, Steve has a track record of driving channel strategy for marketers that have transformed businesses. He joins VMLY&R COMMERCE with many years of work as a digital customer experience executive, leader and strategist, bringing to the agency a specialization in building seamless, data-driven experiences weaving cloud-based marketing technology and content together to engage and delight customers. Most recently, Steve served as head of marketing and ecommerce at the country’s largest jeweler, Signet; known widely for the Kay Jewelers brand. Under his leadership, the brand generated double-digit e-commerce revenue growth on the back of significant SEO traffic increases, personalization enablement, rich-media activation and overall customer engagement.
Prior to Signet, he spent ten years as a COO/CMO in the internet startup sector where he developed a passion for creating new and innovative ways to engage customers, and developing creative and content strategies that move customers to take action. He is fascinated with understanding consumer behavioral shifts and creating frictionless experiences that drive transactions. Earlier in his career, Steve sat at the nexus of mass-market penetration of the web. His time at AOL, before and after the Time Warner acquisition, was marked by driving mass-audience, first-of-its-kind initiatives. He oversaw AOL Productions, then the world’s most prolific interactive production studio. As co-founder of AOL's Strategic Alliances team, he also developed enterprise-wide marketing and advertising partnerships, driving traffic and converting leads into sales.
