Speaker Bio
Jacq Tatelman is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of STATE Bags - a company she launched in 2013 with her husband, Scot, after witnessing kids arrive at their nonprofit summer camp with their belongings in ripped trash bags. That moment sparked a brand built to deliver both function and dignity - rooted in giving back, designed for real life. Since launch, STATE has donated over 500,000 backpacks to kids in need across the country. Jacq began as the brand’s creative force, shaping STATE’s distinctive design language from day one. But when she stepped into the CEO role in 2020, the business took off - scaling 10x in just four years. Under her leadership, STATE expanded its product line, inked major retail deals with partners like Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom, and built best-selling collaborations, including a runaway hit with LoveShackFancy. Jacq’s creativity extends well beyond the business - she lives and breathes style, known for vintage hunting, closet deep dives, and being the go-to for friends seeking outfit advice. Her joy comes through in everything from blasting Phish in her Jeep to daily workouts, live music, and a newfound love of the outdoors in her CA home, all while staying rooted in her New York sensibility. At her core, Jacq leads with originality, builds with intention, and consistently exceeds expectations - especially when it comes to delivering impact for the communities STATE serves. Her philosophy: don’t overpromise, overdeliver every time.
