Fernando Romero is Senior Vice President of Digital Advertising Sales at TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company. In this role, Romero oversees national ad sales revenue across TelevisaUnivision’s digital, streaming, branded social, experiential and digital audio properties.
Prior to joining TelevisaUnivision in January 2023, Romero was Head of Advertising Sales for Fuse Media where he led sales, sponsorships and operations across all the company’s brands, including its linear services Fuse and FM; Fuse.TV; video 360, social platforms, OTT properties; Fuse Backstage, Fuse Beat, Fuse Sweat and more. Additionally, he led the event marketing division, which created partnerships, branded content, experiential opportunities and custom events for marketers.
Romero joined Fuse Media as Vice President of Digital Sales in July of 2018. During his tenure, he played an essential part in growing the company’s digital, social, mobile, OTT, event and integrated sales initiatives as well as partnerships across key platforms, including Samsung TV, Pluto, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, the Lollapalooza and various music festivals, and the ANA Multicultural council and Kindred Network. Additionally, Romero played a material role in managing the company’s partnerships with mission-aligned brands such as IPSY, Sofar Sounds, and Grand Park.
Prior to Fuse, Romero was head of global partnerships at Issuu, the world’s largest digital publishing and discovery platform, backed by KDDI Ventures and Sunstone Capital. As part of the start-up’s executive management team, he built new global sales and business development revenues, structured new programmatic models, and created custom branded sponsorships and publisher distribution partnerships – successfully leveraging proprietary publisher and consumer data to drive revenue across multiple new revenue streams. He has also led sales and sales marketing for NBCUniversal’s DailyCandy – across email, web, mobile, social, branded content, influencer programs, events and e-commerce; was VP of digital ad sales at Rainbow Media Networks (for the AMC, WE and an earlier iteration of the Fuse network); and held a variety of positions at MTV Networks, InStyle.com and Gilt City. He also ran a consultancy, representing lifestyle and influencer clients.
