Raquel Reichard is an award-winning journalist, editor, author, producer and speaker based in Orlando, Fla. Her first book, Self-Care for Latinas, was published by Adams Media, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, in December 2023.
With 10 years of journalism experience, Raquel tells stories about Latine culture, music and body politics, exploring themes of bodily autonomy, colonialism, diasporic belonging and wellness. She has won multiple awards for her reported features, written and narrated audio journalism projects and, most recently, created and produced the video series Mi Doble Quince.
A leading voice in Latine media, she is currently the Deputy Director of Somos, Refinery29's channel by and for Latines, and has also been an editor at Latina magazine, Remezcla, Mic and mitú. Her reporting and criticism have appeared in The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Bustle, MTV, HISTORY.com, Entrepreneur, Well+Good, Chopra, Bon Appétit, Fader, Vibe and more.
When Raquel is not telling stories, she's cultivating communities online and IRL. She founded Borilando, an arts, culture and education nonprofit serving Puerto Ricans in Central Florida, and is also a mentor with the Latinas in Journalism Mentorship Program.
Raquel has a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from the University of Central Florida and a master's degree from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a focus on Latine studies and media & criticism.
A proud Nuyoflorican, Raquel was born in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, spent her early childhood in her parents' enchanting homeland of Puerto Rico and was raised in Orlando, Fla.
