Niven McCall-Mazza is the editor-in-chief of theSkimm – and the first person to hold the position. She oversees editorial production, operations, and development for the digital media company. McCall-Mazza joined theSkimm in 2017 as an editor for the Daily Skimm newsletter and rose the ranks to the editor-in-chief role in October 2020. Under her leadership, theSkimm has ventured into health and parenting verticals, expanded its news and money offerings, launched a career podcast, and focused on more inclusive, elevated, and in-depth storytelling. McCall-Mazza is a staunch advocate for theSkimm’s audience of 16 million+ women – activating them to use their power at the polls in the 2018, 2020, and 2022 election cycles, and championing paid family leave and childcare benefits as a means to help women stay and advance in the workforce.

Prior to joining theSkimm, McCall-Mazza was a Senior Editor at NBC News, managing the company's breaking news coverage across all platforms. During her time there, she covered everything from the Boston Marathon Bombing to the 2016 presidential election, and helped the company adapt to a changing digital landscape.

McCall-Mazza has been recognized for her editorial prowess with an Emmy win in 2015 for production on NBC’s live coverage of the MH17 plane crash and nomination in 2016 for coverage of the deadly San Bernardino, CA shooting. She’s spoken at Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, was a finalist for Digiday’s Future Leader Awards, and was named to GV’s 2021 Impact List as one of 25 women making a difference in their company's culture and success.
