Mark Grether is the Vice President, General Manager of Uber Advertising, where he leads the acceleration of the company’s global advertising business, helping merchants, brands, and other advertisers reach Uber’s highly engaged user base across its Mobility and Delivery divisions in 32 markets.

Having been in the advertising industry for more than 20 years, he joins Uber from Amazon, where he drove the product strategy for the company’s demand-side platform. He is the former CEO of Sizmek, the largest independent advertising platform globally, which was sold to Amazon in 2019. Prior to Sizmek, Mark was the co-founder and global COO of WPP’s Xaxis, which became the world’s largest programmatic media company, generating $1 billion in revenue across 30 markets. He has significant operating experience and international marketplace understanding including across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Mark spent time in academia, teaching at a university in Germany after receiving his PhD in marketing from the University of Mannheim. He is a German citizen and lives in New York with his wife and two sons.
