From appearing in Shakira’s music videos as a percussionist, to setting the utility rates for a California county as a finance professional, to his current role as Chief Marketing Officer at Philo, Nii Mantse Addy has had a rich non-traditional path to becoming a tech/media executive. His seasoned perspective, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial outlook have helped many businesses grow and achieve success.
Currently serving as CMO at television streaming service Philo, Nii oversees strategy around brand, customer acquisition, retention, and marketing partnerships.
Since joining Philo in 2017 as part of the consumer product launch team, Nii steered the company’s explosive growth. He led Philo to more than double its subscriber base, year-over-year, for three consecutive years in the highly competitive streaming industry. Recent achievements include spearheading Philo’s first original series, Boss Moves, which has just completed its second season, and overseeing strategic partnerships with T-Mobile, Google, and Best Buy.
Nii has an impressive track record of scaling tech businesses and products during his well-rounded career across strategy consulting for Fortune 200 companies and investment banking. Prior to Philo, Nii pioneered an international (Australia, Americas, Europe, and India) streaming video business as head of marketing for a division of Comcast. At Comcast, he garnered an ADDY award and Emmy nomination for his work on Us Against The World, while discovering and launching the TV careers of Logan Paul and Awkwafina with work on over a dozen original TV series, including Logan Paul Vs, and Ballin’ on a Budget. As a strategy consultant with Deloitte, Nii focused on tech businesses capturing the small-and-medium sized business market. His purview spanned companies including Adobe, Ebay, and Paypal.
Nii serves as a thought leader and mentor to CEOs and emerging marketing leaders as a “Visionary” within Marketers That Matters. He also advises boards and executives of companies innovating in AI (deepfake detection) and mobile streaming in Africa, and routinely speaks on industry panels including, recent roles as a panelist at the Stream TV Growth summit, the TV of Tomorrow conference, the Parks Associates Future of Video conference, and webinars for MiDIA research, as well as appearing on XM/Sirius radio as a media/tech expert for Karen Hunter. Additionally, his work has been published in Adweek, and featured in Black Enterprise.
Nii earned an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business and a degree in economics from Swarthmore College.
