Shenan Reed was appointed global chief media officer at GM in January 2024. In this role, she leads a cutting-edge global media team and launched MediaONE, a collaborative group of strategists, planners, and innovators driving transparency, inclusivity, and transformative media strategies, accelerating GM’s media approach into the future.
Reed’s connection to GM runs deep. From restoring a 1969 Corvette with her father—a project that culminated in him driving her to her wedding—to her enduring love for classic GM cars, she has long had a passion for the brand. This passion, combined with the opportunity to shape the automotive industry’s evolution, drew her to GM after more than 20 years in digital media, advertising, analytics, and entrepreneurship.
Before joining GM, Reed served as Senior Vice President and Head of Media at L’Oréal USA and held leadership roles at Publicis and Wavemaker. She also founded Morpheus Media, a digital marketing agency renowned for its work with luxury, fashion, and retail brands. Over her career, she has collaborated with brands such as The New York Times, Neiman Marcus, LVMH, Net-A-Porter, Tiffany & Co., Chanel, A&E Networks, Vimeo, IFC, Sundance, and The Economist.
Reed sits on numerous industry boards and councils, including serving as the first-ever brand leader as Chair of the IAB, on the board of the ANA, the Global Meta Client Council, and others. Reed lives in Bronxville, New York, with her husband, two children, and their beagle Pebbles, named after the Flintstones character who grows up to be an advertising executive.
