Colin Jost is a writer, performer and author best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live.”
Jost started writing for “SNL” in 2005 and has been the co-anchor of the show’s “Weekend Update” since 2014.
Jost has won three Emmy Awards, five Writers Guild Awards, and two Peabody Awards for his work as a writer and producer at SNL and for the SNL 50th Anniversary Special.
Jost and Michael Che hosted special editions of “Weekend Update” on MSNBC during the 2016 Republican and Democratic national conventions as well as the primetime “Weekend Update Summer Edition” in 2017. The duo also co-hosted the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018 and in 2024 executive produced and co-hosted Peacock’s first-ever live comedy event, “Colin Jost and Michael Che Present: New York After Dark,” which featured an evening of surprise drop-in performances from stand-up comedians. It was the first show under Jost’s production company, No Notes, which he launched in 2023.
In 2020, Jost debuted “A Very Punchable Face.” A New York Times bestseller, the memoir is a series of essays that documents pivotal moments in Jost’s life, including growing up in Staten Island in a family of firefighters, commuting three hours a day to high school, attending Harvard while Facebook was created and more. He has written for The New Yorker and The New York Times.
Jost received a Sports Emmy Award for his work serving as an NBC Sports correspondent from Tahiti for the surfing competition at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. He returned as a correspondent from Lake Placid for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
In 2024, Jost debuted as the host of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” for Amazon Prime Video and returned for its second season on Netflix in May 2026. Jost received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host for a Game Show in 2025 and 2026 for his work on “Pop Culture Jeopardy!”
In 2015, Jost wrote “Staten Island Summer,” a coming-of-age comedy that was released by Paramount Pictures. Additional film credits include “How to Be Single," "Tom and Jerry," "Coming 2 America" and "The Breadwinner.
Jost has been touring as a stand-up comedian since 2010, selling out venues like Radio City, The Chicago Theatre, the Fox Theatre in Atlanta and the MGM Music Hall at Fenway. He was selected for New Faces at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and performed on The Tonight Show, John Oliver’s Stand-Up Special for Comedy Central and the Mark Twain Prize for Dave Chappelle. He received strong reviews for hosting the 2024 White House Correspondents Dinner.
Jost founded his advertising agency in 2025 and has worked on campaigns with T-Mobile, DraftKings, Amazon, Blue Moon, Jameson, AT&T, IZOD, PGA of America and Zoom.
