Marti Gould Cummings is a NYC Drag staple. Their 16-year long career has expanded the realms of nightlife, cabaret, theatre, film, and television. They have sold out Joe's Pub, 54 Below, and Lincoln Center's Big Apple Circus. As a recording artist they released “A Very Marti Holiday,” featuring some of Broadway biggest names, as well as their hit single “CAKE.” Marti has been featured in Vogue, W Magazine, Paper Magazine, Time OUT NY and The NY Times, among others, as well as appeared on Good Morning America, The View and Inside Edition.
They produced and starred in the number-one rated Fusion Television Docuseries “Shade Queens of NYC”; hosted their own talk show, “The Marti Report,” on Logo; and appeared on “Worst Cooks in America,” Hulu’s “Drag Me to Dinner,” “The X-Change Rate,” and “Dragged” for Yahoo!
Marti has appeared in ad campaigns for COACH, McDonalds, Brooklyn Brewery, and Steve Madden. They currently serve as a performer and cruise director for Vacaya LGBTQ Travel.
Marti made history as the first openly non-binary candidate to run for office in New York City when they ran for City Council in 2021 to represent District 7. Their campaign journey is featured in the documentary "Queen of New York", currently streaming on The Advocate Channel. They also made history by being the first drag artist to be invited to moderate a panel at The United Nations, to discuss the path to electing more queer people around the world.
Marti also served as an advisor to both former NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio and the New York City Council as part of their role on the NYC Nightlife Advisory Board, while concurrently serving as a member of Community Board 9, having been appointed by former Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
Activism and politics have long been part of Martis' work, leading them to do a TedTalk about cyberbullying and why drag is safe for kids.
They serve on the Board of Directors for The Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBTQ Youth, The Advisory Board Drag Story Hour NY, as a National Co Chair of Drag Out the Vote, and work as a Project Specialist for Equality NY.
