Aaliayh Edwards was the Washington Mystics 6th overall pick in the highly anticipated 2024 WNBA draft, following her stellar career at UConn where she earned All-American honors in consecutive seasons, and won four straight Big East tournament titles. Aaliyah was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, and looks forward to representing her country as she will play a prominent role with Team Canada in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Aaliyah grew up inspired by Lakers great Kobe Bryant, which is why she wears her purple and yellow braids with pride. Aaliyah looks forward to using her platform to make an impact in the communities that shaped her, including Kingston, Storrs, and now Washington D.C.
